Sana’a Zoo
Sana'a Zoo in Yemen's capital is a struggling animal attraction that has faced criticism for its poor conditions and lack of a comprehensive collection. Due to the ongoing conflict, the zoo has been operating with limited revenue, making it difficult to provide adequate food and care for its animals. Visitors have described the conditions as "death trap" and a "bizarre collection" that lacks a "useful or comprehensive zoological collection”. As described by David Stanton, a biologist, “It’s like a death trap for animals”.
Due to the ongoing conflict, the animals are in desperate need of medical care, food, and proper hygiene. A Lion’s Heart has been contacted to help and has been promised help and cooperation from all legal entities and civilians. The conflict has been difficult and a horror for both people and animals. We cannot abandon them.
